Seeking accreditation for an IT system helps to raise awareness among all project stakeholders (management, finance, legal and HR teams, project owner, project manager, users), and to involve those with an interest in the system and standardise terminology. It is a genuine tool for negotiation and arbitration, supplying the required justifications for decision-making (accurate descriptions, strategic challenges, detailed risks and their impact on the organisation, clear security objectives and requirements).

The accreditation process is mandatory for executive government departments and public bodies, in accordance with  Ministerial Decree No. 2016-723 of 12 December 2016, implementing article 18 of Act No. 1.430 dated 13 July 2016 on various measures relating to the preservation of national security, and setting out classification levels for information  and the Security Policy for Government Information Systems (SPGIS) for executive government departments and public bodies ( Ministerial Decree No. 2017-56 of 01 February 2017 implementing Sovereign Ordinance No. 3.413 dated 29 August 2011 on various measures concerning the relationship between the Administration and citizens, as amended ).
