The Prince’s Government, in consultation with the National Council and despite the current budget situation, will still be allowing recipients (civil servants, government employees, government retirees, etc.) to receive their end-of-year bonuses. In December 2020, this bonus will take the form of gift vouchers that can be used in the Principality’s shops and restaurants that are partnering with this initiative.
The Prince’s Government is injecting €5 million to be spent exclusively within the national economy.
To achieve this, and as part of the digital transition, a decision has been taken to use the existing CARLO app, which guarantees that all of these bonuses will be spent in the Principality’s shops and restaurants. The CARLO app also enables customers to be compensated when they spend money, receiving a cash-back bonus for each purchase that they can subsequently reuse as they wish in partner shops and restaurants in Monaco.
In a bid to meet everyone’s expectations, the scheme is also available in a non-digital format. An appropriate solution has been developed, using paper documents and a hotline to assist users.
Nearly 60 businesses operating in a variety of sectors were already CARLO partners even before the introduction of this government measure. Nonetheless, to make the offer even more attractive, new traders and restaurants will take part in the initiative, thus becoming part of a community of dynamic and collaborative actors.
The proposed offer will include cultural and sporting activities just as soon as health protocols allow.
It should be noted that membership of Carlo for traders in all sectors is covered by the State for the duration of this initiative.
This the measure set to apply until 31 March 2021.
By launching this major initiative, the Government intends to give a fresh boost to Monegasque trade, and hopes that the principle of sustained and virtuous local consumption will last.
