Principle and conditions
Women's daily work may be interrupted by one or several rest breaks, the total duration of which must not be less than one hour.
Exemptions to this principle may, however, be granted by the Labour Inspector, at the request of the employer, with the agreement of the staff concerned.

It is essential to attach the following document to any request for an exemption to the daily rest period granted to female employees:
- The agreement of the staff concerned

Requesting an exemption

You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt by email.
As an applicant on behalf of your company, you must submit any request made as a paper application to the Labour Inspectorate, giving the following information:
- The CAR number of your company
- The name of your company
- The registered name of your company
- The address of your company
- The phone number of your company
- The staff affected by the request
- The circumstances justifying the request
- The period or date of the exemption
You should send your request an exemption to the daily rest period granted to female employees, accompanied by the requested supporting document, to the Labour Inspectorate (or by email inspectiondutravail@gouv.mc ).
