1

Collating the documents

The following documents should be provided to the bank:

For individuals acting in a professional capacity

  • A copy of both sides of a valid proof of identity document, issued by a public authority and including a photograph of the holder

  • A copy of an official document attesting to the professional activity
  • A sworn statement to the effect that the applicant does not have an open deposit account in Monaco for professional purposes

For commercial companies

  • An extract from the Trade and Industry Registry, dated of less than 3 months or, for companies in the process of being set up, the acknowledgement issued by the Business Development Agency confirming receipt of the declaration of activity or the admissibility of the application for a business permit or authorisation to start a company
  • For the individual who has the authority to lead, manage or act on behalf of the company on a habitual basis: a copy of both sides of a valid proof of identity document, issued by a public authority and including a photograph of the holder and a copy of a proof of address document, dated of less than 3 months
  • A sworn statement from the person referred to in the previous point to the effect that the company does not have a deposit account in Monaco opened in its name

  • A certificate of registration in the Special Register of Non-Trading Companies, dated of less than 3 months
  • A copy of the minutes of the General Meeting at which the company’s manager was appointed

  • A sworn statement from the person referred to in the previous point to the effect that the company does not have a deposit account in Monaco opened in its name

For declared and public associations

  • A copy of the publication in the “Journal de Monaco” of the extract containing the date of the declaration, the name and purpose of the association and details of its headquarters
  • For the president of the association or the director responsible for administration: a copy of both sides of a valid proof of identity document, issued by a public authority and including a photograph of the holder and a copy of a proof of address document, dated of less than 3 months
  • A sworn statement from the person referred to in the previous point to the effect that the association does not have a deposit account in Monaco opened in its name

2

Contacting the bank and/or submitting the application to the bank

Once you have collated your documents, you can consult the list of Monegasque banks offering financing and banking services to companies and contact the bank or banks of your choice for more details about how to submit your application.

3

Receiving a response from the bank

The bank has 15 working days from receipt of all required documents:

  • To open the bank account
    Or
  • To issue a certificate of refusal to open a bank account and inform the applicant that they may contact the Department of Budget and Treasury, which will designate a bank to open an account for the applicant

If the bank rejects your application, you can therefore contact the Department of Budget and Treasury to exercise your right to an account. Click here to find out more.
