Principle and conditions

Only pharmacists who are authorised to operate a pharmacy in the Principality can carry out the electronic sale of medicines. This activity can only be undertaken via the pharmacy's web site.
Before undertaking this activity, it is necessary to obtain authorisation issued by the Minister of State after reasoned opinion by the Council of the Order of Pharmacists.
Medicines that can be sold on line are medicines that are not mandatory prescription drugs. Therefore, it is forbidden to sell medicines on the Internet for which a prescription is required

Act No. 1.426 of 4 July 2016 on the electronic trade in medicines and group purchasing structures
Ministerial Decree No. 2016-555 of 12 September 2016 on the electronic sales of medicines


Obtaining and completing the form

To get this form, you can either:


Provide the information required for identifying the website

The following information must be supplied and must feature on the web site in an identification section (for example "Legal Conditions" or "Who Are We?"):

  • The name of the pharmacy
  • The surname (maiden name for married women), the used surname and first names of the named pharmacist(s), or, if not applicable, of the assistant pharmacist(s) who have been delegated to operate the website
  • The address of the pharmacy
  • The email adress
  • Phone number and fax number
  • Details of the Ministerial Decree authorising the named pharmacist(s) to operate the abovementioned pharmacy
  • The registration number of the entry in the register of trade and industry
  • If relevant, the name and contact details of the website host


Collating the documents

Documents to be provided:

  • A description of the web site and the way it operates in accordance with the legislation in force
  • A description of the area used for undertaking online sales within the pharmacy, i.e.:
    • A precise plan of the pharmacy showing where this activity is carried out with regard to the pharmacy's other activities
    • A description of the premises and equipment used for the various stages of this activity, from the order to possible returns
    • A list of the staff involved in the electronic sale of medicines
    • If relevant, details of the pharmacy assistant(s) delegated to undertake online sales
    • Identification of the data host, if relevant


Sending off the documents

Three copies of the file must be sent to the following address by registered post with confirmation of receipt:

Display the European logo on the website

The activity of selling medicines on the Internet can begin after authorisation has been given. As provided for by  Directive 2011/62/EU of the European Parliament and the Council of 8 June 2011 relating to the prevention of the entry into the legal supply chain of falsified medicinal products the web site must show the logo implemented throughout the Community on every page that deals with the online sale of medicines ( Implementing Regulation No. 699/2014 on the European common logo for the sale of medicines online, published on 25 June 2014 in the Official Journal of the European Union). This can be downloaded below.

This logo must give access to the list of web sites authorised to undertake online sales on which the pharmacy features.
