Principle and conditions
The 2005 Agreement between the European Community and the Principality of Monaco providing for measures equivalent to those laid down in Directive 2003/48/EC of the Council (taxation on savings income) has been subject to a Protocol of Amendment. This Protocol replaces and repeals the 2005 Agreement in order to bring it into line with the Common Reporting Standard and allow for the automatic exchange of information between the EU Member States and Monaco.
As a transitional measure, however, it is expected that the obligations of the Principality of Monaco and the underlying obligations of paying agents established in its territory will continue to apply until 30 June 2017 or until these obligations have been entirely fulfilled (article 16 of the Sovereign Ordinance 6.208 of 20/12/2016 ).
