Principle and conditions

All registrations are valid for a limited period, until 31 December of the current year, with the exception of new registrations made between 1 October and 31 December, which are valid until 31 December of the following year. The date of validity is stated on the registration certificate and on the sticker affixed to the registration plate.

Registration may be renewed each year, thereby extending its validity for one year. Renewal is due if the vehicle is still registered on 1st January.

The car sticker can be renewed:

  • By natural persons domiciled in Monaco who can provide proof of a vadid ID (passport, ID card or national passport with proof of address, or residence permit)
  • By natural persons who own property in their own name or has a lease for rented accommodation in the Principality, and a parking permit
  • For professional use, by natural or legal persons who are authorised to undertake and are currently undertaking a professional, commercial or industrial activity, with the exclusion of non-trading real estate companies

Renewal of the sticker car for the following year may be requested by paying the corresponding fee, the amount of which is set for each category of vehicle. The fee may be paid from the time when the corresponding invoice is received. This invoice is sent to all owners of registered vehicles at the beginning of October of the current year. The deadline for payment is 31 December of the current year.

If no payment is registered by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office by 31 December, a late payment penalty per vehicle, the amount of which is set by Ministerial Decree, is payable from 1 January of the following year. In this case, a letter giving formal notice of payment for the renewal of registration, within one month before the date of the end of the sticker renewal period, will be sent by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt. If payment is not made, the vehicle will be removed from the registration file and will no longer be authorised to circulate on the public highway.

There is a fee associated with this service - Please see Download file STC - Tarifs 2020 en vigueur STC - Tarifs 2020 en vigueur
